Fantasy Artist

Rebecca Houghton
Meet Rebecca Houghton, a fine artist who lives and works in Arlington, Virginia. Rebecca attended the San Francisco Art Institute and has been an artist since she was a small child. In high school, her oil portraiture was so excellent that her art teacher's husband purchased one of her works! Her varied interests include acrylics, oils, pastels, pen and ink, textile arts and found objects. I was lucky enough to commission Rebecca's artistic talents for illustrating my CD audiobook containing three of my short stories, NIGHTWINGS: A CLUTCH OF DARK ONES, which is available for purchase from Silver Bullet Audio by clicking here. The small photos of her artwork published below have been intentionally displayed in low resolution to prevent piracy and do not reveal the intricacy of the artwork that is Rebecca's trademark, sorry to say, but you can get a basic idea of the kind of work she does. It's amazing!
Below is another example of her work. She has an affinity for nature, which is abundant in all of her designs.

Here is one of Rebecca's beautifully intricate compositions, below. It is filled with images of flowers, vines, fish, a magnificent lotus flanked by dragonflies, all surrounded by a delicate geometric border. Imagine how many hours she spent working on this!

And here are more examples of her work, which are, regretfully, diminished by resizing. This particular tapestry is actually embroidery and beadwork:

The mandala pictured below is an example of Rebecca's fine acrylic paintings:

Although Rebecca is a serious
artist, occasionally she does like to play hooky from her studio to frolic
amongst the gravestones. Now you know why--in addition to her fantastic
artwork--I like her so much!
Click on the link above to email Rebecca about commissioning her artwork, to find out what works she has available for purchase or just to say hello. She enjoys hearing from other artists, and from those with an interest in art. And if you just like to hang around in graveyards for fun and inspiration, well, she'll probably like hearing from you, too.
